Strong opening for the markets

Following positive cues from the US markets, the Indian markets have opened positively. The leading gainers among the Sensex stocks include index heavyweights such as Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, HDFC and BHEL. At 9:59 am (IST), the BSE 30-share Sensex was up 187 points to 17,960 and NSE Nifty has added 43 points at 5,226.
