President speaks out against child labour

The President Pratibha Patil criticised the lack of adequate laws to tackle the problem of child labour while taking up their cause. At a function for school teachers, the President said, "I feel deeply for those unfortunate children who are working in fields, factories, shops, streets to earn their livelihood or to support their families".
