510 killed in earthquake : Peru

The death toll in the earthquake which ripped through Peru and destroyed cities rose to 510, while more than 1500 were injured. Survivors wearing blankets were found walking like ghosts through the ruins. Dust-covered dead were pulled out and laid in rows in the streets, or beneath bloodstained sheets at damaged hospitals and morgues.
