EC rejects Advani's plea on candidates’ assets

Closely following the Supreme Court's decision to reject a lawyer's plea challenging the nomination of Pratibha Patil in the Presidential elections, The Election Commission has rejected BJP leader L K Advani's demand that presidential candidates be asked to declare their assets, saying it is not empowered to deal with the issue.
