Maharashtra's beleaguered deputy chief minister and home minister R R Patil has resigned acting under the orders of party chief Sharad Pawar. However, he insists that acted on his own free will, having listened to "his inner voice". Patil's insensitive comments that "such small small incidents happen in big cities" has proved to be the final nail in the coffin.
