'93 blasts case: Freed to pay for judgement copies

The 23 people acquitted in the 1993 blasts case by the TADA court will have to pay about Rs 24,000 for certified copies of the judgement -which consists of 6000 pages- whereas the convicts will get them free of cost. The TADA court is scheduled to hand over copies of its judgement to the 100 convicts beginning today.

An Ambala court has issued summons to the Dera Sacha Sauda Chief, Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh, and seven others to appear before it on October four in connection with two cases of murder and the rape of a disciple. The notice was issued by Special CBI Judge R N Bharti after the defence counsel nformed the court about the interim relief given to the Dera head by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

A notice has been issued to the Gujarat Government by the Supreme Court on the basis of a petition which is seeking a CBI probe into the killings of 21 persons in post-Godhra riots. The bodies of the 21 victims were exhumed in 2005. The Bench headed by Justice B N Aggarwal has sought the state government and the CBI's reply within four weeks.
