In a bid to make its workforce more global, Infosys Technologies will dispatch its first group of UK graduate trainees to India for a six-month induction course. The 25 trainees who will be visiting India were issued a copy of the Lonely Planet guide to India to help them orientate themselves in their new home.

According to a 20-minute audiotape recording from Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden’s deputy, the Al-Qaeda is preparing to retaliate against the UK for awarding a knighthood to author Salman Rushdie. The message was posted on a website often used by Islamic militants, warned of a “very precise response”.
