Australian leg-spinner Stuart MacGill is all set to undergo a knee surgery, which will make him unavailable for the home series against India starting next month.
MacGill, a veteran of 42 Tests, consented to have the surgery in a last ditch attempt to prolong his playing career and regain full fitness for a gruelling year ahead, which includes tours of Pakistan, India and the West Indies.

local youth risked his life and defused a powerful bomb planted on a roadside here by pulling out the wires, well before the police arrived at the spot. Several lives would have been lost if the bomb had exploded, the police said.
A police spokesman on Monday said they were informed by locals about the presence of an unidentified sack lying on a pavement near the city's Bamunimaidan area.

Commercial Wi-Fi hotspots in the country are set for a premature death thanks to the advent of the Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access or WiMax.
Telecoms operators, who not so long ago were harping about their open access Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) hotspots, have given up on further rollouts of the technology in public places.

Google Inc. will begin showing YouTube videos on thousands of other web sites, hoping to profit from ads attached to the clips.
The expansion, scheduled to be announced Tuesday, represents the Internet search leader's farthest-reaching attempt yet to cash in on its $1.76 billion acquisition of YouTube since the deal closed 11 months ago.

Air Deccan staffer killed at Delhi airport

New Delhi: An Air Deccan staffer was killed at the Palam airport here, after she was hit by a vehicle late on Monday night.
The accident occurred as Sarsruti Sinha was walking towards the bay.
The vehicle is yet to be identified, police said.
Sinha was a senior technical officer with Air Deccan.
The airlines is yet to come out with a statement on the incident.

The Empire State Building which is a popular landmark in New York will be lit green from Friday to Sunday in celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr. Till date, the world famous building has been lit in traditional colours only on the occasion of Christmas and the Jewish festival Hannukah. However, this year onwards the monument will be lit green to celebrate Eid.

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of guerrilla leader Ernesto "Che" Guevara's capture and killing in Bolivia, thousands of Cubans gathered in a memorial rally in the central Cuban city of Santa Clara. The ceremony was held on Monday at the mausoleum where Guevara's remains were placed.
