Seven members of a family including four children were charred to death in Katol about 40 kms from in Nagpur, police said on Friday.
Lightning struck the electricity meter of Ramesh Raut's thatched hut in Gondi Mohgaon village yesterday, causing a live wire to fall on it. The hut caught fire as a consequence and all occupants, who were asleep then, were burnt to death, police said.

NAGPUR: The untimely rains that brought relief to several parts of Vidarbha on Wednesday proved to be a bane for seven people of a family in Katol.
All seven of them were burnt alive in the thatched house after lightning, which accompanied the rains, caused a short circuit, triggering sparks and the subsequent fire reducing the house to ashes.
