On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of guerrilla leader Ernesto "Che" Guevara's capture and killing in Bolivia, thousands of Cubans gathered in a memorial rally in the central Cuban city of Santa Clara. The ceremony was held on Monday at the mausoleum where Guevara's remains were placed.

Former sprinter PT Usha spoke out against child wonder Budhia Singh being made to undertake long distance running at a young age. "If the kid runs on his own, then it's ok. But forcing or luring him to run will damage his health", Usha said pointing out that children below 12 years should not be allowed to run.

Almost a decade after her death, the legacy of Mother Teresa continues to draw dignitaries to her Missionaries of Charity abode in Kolkata. Yesterday, Akie Abe the wife of the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, visited the late Mother Teresa's home and spent time with the nuns. Later, Akie also visited Shishu Bhavan, a home for abandoned children, also run by the Missionaries of Charity.

An Internet auction for charity held just days before the 10th anniversary of the death of Princess Diana failed to attract bids for a pale-blue dress worn by her at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival. The silk chiffon evening gown was among 79 dresses that Diana auctioned off for charity at Christie's in New York in June 1997.
