local youth risked his life and defused a powerful bomb planted on a roadside here by pulling out the wires, well before the police arrived at the spot. Several lives would have been lost if the bomb had exploded, the police said.
A police spokesman on Monday said they were informed by locals about the presence of an unidentified sack lying on a pavement near the city's Bamunimaidan area.

A building collapsed in South Mumbai killing five persons and injuring two others. The upper two floors of Giridhar building collapsed onto Chadha Mansion adjacent to it on Lamington Road, according to the fire brigade sources.

Another bodyguard of Tiger Memon, a prime accused in the 1993 serial bombings here, was on Wednesday awarded life sentence on two counts for his role in the horrible terror attack.Sardar Shahvali Khan was convicted on two counts, criminal conspiracy and aiding and abetting a terror act.
