A 140-year-old Panch Mukhi Mahadev temple at Kapurthala in Punjab was vandalised by miscreants who decamped with a silver chandelier.According to sources, a marble idol of Panch Mukhi Mahadev was damaged and a chandelier weighing about 1 kg has gone missing.

The Sri Puram Golden Temple - which is one of the biggest Hindu shrines in southern India - was consecrated on Friday in the presence of over 30,000 devotees. Dubbed the 'golden temple', the Sri Puram is located in the backdrop of a small range of hillocks, about 180 km from Chennai. It has been built at the cost of Rs.3 million by a spiritual leader who calls himself Narayani Amma.

The pilgrimage to the Holy cave in Amarnath resumed after being suspended for two days on account of bad weather. A batch of 577 pilgrims including 331 men, 127 women, 25 children and 94 sadhus left in a fleet of 18 vehicles amid tight security from the base camp of Mam stadium.

The Hyderabad police have registered a case against Akbaruddin Owaisi, the leader of the Majlis-e-Ittedhadul Muslimeen (MIM) on charges of threatening to kill Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen. Owaisi has been booked on charges of criminal intimidation however he denied issuing any threat to kill Nasreen if she visits Hyderabad again.
