Landis held guilty of doping, stripped of title

A US arbitration panel has found American rider Floyd Landis guilty of doping and has issued him a two year ban besides stripping him of his 2006 Tour de France title. The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) said that Landis has committed a doping violation in the sport's blue-riband event last year. Landis will be the first Tour de France winner to be stripped of the title victory.

Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza has reached the second round of the US Open in the doubles tournament. Mirza and her doubles partner Bethanie Mattek beat Severine Bremond of France and Jelena Jankovic of Serbia by a convincing 6-2, 6-1 margin.
