DLF rises 3.2% to Rs923

Retail loan rates cut : ICICI Bank

A spokesman for ICICI Bank Ltd, said that it has cut interest rates on home loans and other retail loans by 25-50 basis points with immediate effect. India's second-largest bank has followed the example of State Bank of India of cutting interest rates on new loans for homes, automobiles and farm equipment in a festival season offer that runs until the end of 2007.

Infosys Q2 net rises 1.9%, meets forecast

Infosys Technologies Ltd, posted a 1.9 per cent rise in quarterly profit on Thursday, thus meeting the forecasts even as a rising Rupee limited the gains from new contracts. India's No. 2 software services exporter said its net profit rose to Rs 1100 crore in the quarter ended September, its fiscal second quarter, from Rs 1,079 crore a year earlier.

On account of disappointing Q2 numbers by IT bellweather Infosys, the IT stocks are down. Infosys leads the slide with the scrip being down down by over 4% to Rs2042, Satyam Computer has slipped 2% to Rs474, Wipro fell 2.1% to Rs492 and TCS slid 1% to Rs1115.

The Asian markets were upbeat on account of speculations that global demand for commodities will be able to counter a slowdown in the US economy. Indexes such as the Nikkei in Tokyo advanced 267 points to 17,441, while the Hang Seng in Hong Kong jumped 307 points to 28,876. Seoul's Kospi rose 7 points to 2048 whereas, Singapore's Straits Times rallied 65 points at 3879.

English opener Alastair Cook's 80 runs helped England beat Sri Lanka by five-wickets to register their first one-day series victory in Sri Lanka.
