Lionel Messi scored two goals and Argentina held on for a 4-3 win over Algeria in an international friendly played at the Nou Camp stadium.The FC Barcelona forward exchanged passes with midfielder Pablo Aimar before scoring the winner in the 74th minute. The 19-year-old Messi also converted a penalty after being brought down by defender Mehdi Meniri in the 55th.

A week ago Dav Whatmore's appointment as the Indian cricket team's coach was almost a certainty. But things took a dramatically different turn at the meeting in Bangalore on Monday, June 4, when the seven-member selection committee sat down to finalise the new coach.
Shockingly, Whatmore was not given the job and the committee asked for a few more days to name the new coach.

Petrol and diesel prices in the national capital have been raised marginally following the state government's decision to levy sales tax on the two auto fuels.Petrol has become dearer by Rs 0.67 a litre to Rs 43.52 per litre from midnight. Diesel price has increased from Rs 30.25 a litre to Rs 30.48 per litre, oil company sources said.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh left for Germany on a three-day visit to attend the G8 Outreach Summit at the Baltic resort of Heiligendamm. The prime minister is also scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings with leaders including US President George W.
