The US who reportedly prevented the Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf from imposing an emergency, is now working towards convincing him that his best move to retain power, in the face of growing domestic unrest, would be to share it with former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. As per the arrangement, Bhutto can be installed as prime minister while Musharraf remains president.

Campaign launched to save endangered birds

The UK-based BirdLife International plans to raise tens of millions of dollars to save 189 endangered birds over the next five years by protecting their habitat and raising public awareness about their plight. The conservation group is approaching environmental groups, corporations and individuals to contribute the USD 37.8 million for the 'the Species Champions initiative'.
