On the basis of reports that a unit of India's largest natural gas explorer acquiring stakes in three gas- producing areas in Myanmar, ONGC gained by 1.5% to Rs853. The scrip has touched an intra-day high of Rs855 and a low of Rs834 and has recorded volumes of over 1,00,000 shares on NSE.

The stock markets began this morning with a positive bias on the back of gains in the index heavyweights like Infosys, L&T, HDFC and BHEL. At 9:58am (IST), the Bombay Stock Exchange's 30-share Sensex gained 32 points to reach 15153 while the NSE's Nifty was flat at 4410.

Following the broadcast of a sting operation by a Hindi television news channel which showed a woman teacher with the Asaf Ali Road branch of the Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya allegedly pushing students into prostitution, an angry mob went on a rampage. Two dozen vehicles were damaged and a police gypsy was burnt during the mob violence.

Hacker posts passwords of embassies online

A hacker who claims to be based in Sweden, has posted the passwords of 100 email accounts of various embassies and government offices from across the world, including 13 Indian accounts. The accounts mainly contain classified information and correspondence. Some of the Indian organisations include the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
