Having expressed it's disappointment with the UN Security Council's response to the violence in Myanmar, the Bush administration has called for 'stronger' action. The US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said, "I would have hoped that the Security Council would have taken stronger action."

14 fishermen arrive safely

One of the two boats which was missing at sea has returned after six days. The boat- Pratifal- returned to safety with its crew of 14 fishermen on board on Friday. The men survived for six days eating only raw onions.“All we did for the past six days was pray to the sea god,” said 55-year-old Walter Khaku who was on the Pratifal.

Investigator blames CBI for mishandling Bofors case

A militant of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit Abu Hafiz alias Bashir Ahmed Malla has surrendered before the police in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, according to sources. The sources also added that Hafiz laid down some ammunition and explosives before the authorities.
