Following England's close victory in the fourth one-day match, the Indian skipper Rahul Dravid said his side fell short by 25 runs. Defending an inadequate total of 212, the Indian bowlers did an excelelnt job of reduce England to 114 for seven. However a record 99-run unbeaten stand for the eighth wicket, between Bopara and Broad helped England secure a 3-1 lead in the series.

Coroner's inquest to begin next month : Woolmer Case

The coroner's inquest into the death of Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer will begin on October 16. The long-awaited inquest will be presided by Coroner Patrick Murphy and will try to determine the conditions under which Woolmer died on March 18.

The third seeded Jelena Jankovic cruised past her Belarusian opponent Olga Govortsova in just 62 minutes to make it to the 3rd round of the US Open. Jankovic, a semi-finalist at the 2006 US Open, had improved her performance from her 6-2 7-6 victory over Slovakian Jarmila Gajdosova in the first round.

England beat India by three wickets in the fourth ODI on Thursday to enjoy a 3-1 lead in the seven match series. Chasing 213 runs, Ravi Bopara and Stuart Broad guided England - who were seven wickets down - with two overs to spare with Bopara batting on 43 and Broad unbeaten on 45.
