The Australian Federal Police are seeking legal advice as to whether the actions of Mohammed Haneef's lawyers -in releasing a transcript of a second police interview with Haneef - were inappropriate. Haneef's legal team earlier released a 378-page transcript of an interview with Brisbane police held on July 13.

The Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived in Kolkata on Thursday on a day-long visit to the city, he was accompanied by his wife Akie. The West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee received Abe at the airort. Following the visit an announcement may be made for the proposed East-West Metro corridor project in the metropolis by the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).

A new feature has been developed by Google which allows users of Google Earth to view the sky as seen from terra firma. The tool, which has been titled Sky, allows user of Google Earth to view and navigate through 100 million individual stars and 200 million galaxies with high-resolution imagery and information overlay to teach users about space.

Although the overall flood situation in Bihar has shown signs of improvement, 56 more deaths were reported from flood-hit areas on Wednesday, taking the total death toll to 408.
