The former Pakistani Premier Benazir Bhutto said that she wished to see a treaty between India and Pakistan in the 60th year of their Independence that "promises" peace for the coming generations."In the 60th year of Pakistan's and India's independence, we would like to see India and Pakistan to come to a treaty that can promise peace to coming generations," she said at a press conference.

The Australian Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews said that the investigations carried out by the authorities in Australia and the United Kingdom could be jeopardised by the release of the transcript of the interview of Haneef Mohammed with the police. The BSE's benchmark Sensex opened higher by over 152 points on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Friday on account of selective buying by funds.
