Tata Motors slips 1.4%

The Tata Motors scrip fell 1.4%to Rs694 as the company’s August sales fell 0.4%, which was the fourth monthly decline as demand continued to remain low on account of high interest rates.The company sold 45,144 commercial and passenger vehicles in India and overseas last month. The Tata Motors scrip touched an intra-day high of Rs707 and a low of Rs684.

'MBBS degrees issued by AIIMS are valid' : HC

Two policemen from Bihar have been dismissed for flogging a chain snatcher, in an incident which has caused a furore across the nation. Mohammad Aurangzeb alias Saleem, a youth with a criminal record in Bhagalpur district, was beaten up severely by a mob for allegedly trying to snatch a woman's gold chain. Later on, he was tied to a motorcycle and dragged along the road by two the policeman.

According to SAfm public radio, the world's biggest diamond has been found in a mine in South Africa's northwest province. The stone found was twice the weight of the previous record-holder, the Cullinan Diamond, which weighed about 3,106 carats when found in present-day Gauteng province in January 1905.

Rajasthan HC grants bail to Salman : Poaching Case

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was granted bail by the Rajasthan High Court on Friday, nearly a week since he was sent to jail in connection with the Chinkara poaching case. The High Court ordered his release on a security of Rs 1 lakh and a bond of Rs 50,000. The court fixed the next date of hearing the revision petition on 24 October.
