Team India has just arrived at the CSI airport in Mumbai to a hero's welcome after winning the inaugral Twenty20 World Cup in Johannesburg. The Maharashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh, Deputy CM RR Patil and the top brass of the Cricket Board, including President Sharad Pawar were present at the airport to receive the players. The players have boarded an open top bus and will travel to the Wankhede Stad

A 22-year-old reporter employed with Total TV, an NCR (National Capital Region) channel committed suicide and in a suicide note she blamed her superiors for driving her to the exteme step. The news channel’s output editor Tapan Bharati and executive producer Umesh Joshi have been arrested.

The Indians not only beat the South Africans to book a place in the semi finals, but they also knocked out the Proteas out of the tournament in the process of doing so. The Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath has expressed his interest in being involved with the new Twenty20 cricket league in India but has maintained that he is still fond of the 5-day form of the game. McGrath said that he was looking forward to promoting the shorter version of the game, but hoped Twenty20’s popularity did not impinge on tests.

PCB warns players of 'long-term' bans

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a stern warning to it's players - who are joining the multi-million dollar Indian Cricket League (ICL) - to rethink their decision or be prepared for "long-term bans". The chairman of the PCB has said that four players - Inzamam-ul Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, Imran Farhat and Abdul Razzaq could face a ban.
