The bourses which opened in the red on Tuesday, extended their losses to more than 1 percent on account of fear of early elections.At 9:57 a.m., the Sensex was down 0.49 percent, or 85.84 points at 17,405.55, with 23 components in the red. While the Nifty was down 0.75 percent at 5,047.10.

Police officer goes on a rampage, kills 6 : US

A 20-year-old old police officer, Tyler Peterson apparently went on a rampage, killing six people, including his girlfriend. The incident took place at a house at Crandon in the state of Wisconsin, wherein, Peterson shot local youth who had gathered at the house to "eat pizza and watch movies".

Rupee rises to its highest level in 9 1/2 years

Record inflows from foreign investors into the Indian stock market has assisted the Rupee in rising to its strongest level against the US Dollar in nine and a half years on Thursday. The Indian Rupee was trading at 39.57 per dollar after touching 39.5450, its strongest level since April 1998. It had previously closed at 39.58/59 on Wednesday.
