In a horrific incident, a three-year old girl in Delhi was raped and murdered on Saturday night. The body of the girl who went missing was discovered on the terrace of the building where she lived with her family. The police, however, were keen to prevent news of the murder from reaching the press.

Mud saves runaway train

Fourteen bogies of a superfast train got unhitched from its engine last night, ran on and jumped rails but did not tip over totally on their sides, thanks to earthen embankments flanking the tracks. Three passengers in the Howrah-bound 2659 Gurudev Express died in the freak crash but almost 500 in the derailed coaches providentially survived with minor cuts and bruises.

The wife of the former Pakistan cricket coach, Bob Woolmer, expressed relief on Tuesday after the Jamaican police finally declared that he was not murdered but died of natural causes. "We are relieved that it has been officially announced that Bob died of natural causes," Gill Woolmer told AFP from her home in Pinelands, Cape Town. "It is now over."

'Raped' & hung from tree

The body of a 13-year-old girl was found hanging from a tree in a mango orchard this morning. Police suspect that the teenager, a resident of Harishchandrapur village, 100 km from here, was raped before she was hung from a branch of the tree.
