Pakistan celebrates Independence day, releases Indian prisoners

The Pakistani authorities have released 135 Indian prisoners, while the Indians will reciprocate the gesture by releasing 72 Pakistani prisoners on Tuesday. Most of the Indian prisoners were fishermen from Gujarat. Meanwhile, the two countries are preparing to celebrate their respective independence days.

The Australian Foreign Affairs Minister, Alexander Downer will put a recommendation to the National Security Committee to commence the export of uranium to India. Downer, in an interbiew said that Downer said that no decision has been made regarding sale of uranium to India and any such sale would be conditional to a treaty being negotiated.

The Supreme Court relaxed the bail conditions of Monica Bedi, who is accused in the fake passport case, by directing that she would not have to surrender her passport as it has been lost. Instead the court has directed that her passport issued by the Regional Passport Office, Mumbai, be cancelled and the special CBI judge in Hyderabad consider the order while releasing her on bail.
