The Indian doctor, Haneef Mohamed, who was detained by the Australian authorities in connection with the the failed UK terror plot has expressed his joy at being freed and said he has no knowledge of his relatives' alleged involvement in terror activities. Dr Haneef said that he felt, "great... my Lord has restored my honour back to me, that I am innocent".

Sikh leaders seek trimming of big fat weddings

In a bid to discourage 'dowry harassment', Sikh leaders have called for an end to extravagent wedding celebrations, which result in promoting dowry and practices like female foeticide. Australians blame the UK police for the Haneef episode

The Australian police said that the reason for the false charges levelled against Indian Doctor,Haneef Mohammed was due to wrong information received from British investigators. Haneef receives "no objection" to leave Australia

The Australian Minister for Immigration, Kevin Andrews announced that Mohammed Haneef will be allowed to leave Australia, but his work visa will not be reinstated. Govt likely to double Prez's salary to Rs 1 lakh

The Union Cabinet is considering a proposal to double the salary of the president to Rs one lakh per month and enhance post-retirement benefits.The salary of president, which was fixed at Rs 10,000 in the Constitution, was gradually raised to Rs 50,000 a month in 1998 with effect from January 1, 1996.

Thanks to the booming economy and rising growth, there are more private aircraft flying around than regular commercial aircraft run by scheduled airlines, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).At last count, there were 271 corporate jets and turboprops compared to 255 aircraft owned by various commercial airlines.
