No emigration check for foreign visits : minister

The Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi said that henceforth Indians visiting foreign countries will not have to bother about the 'emigration check required' clause on their passports. "The government is soon going to do away with the system of giving suspension to ECR status to people going abroad on visit visas," Vayalar Ravi said at a fumction.

'Haneef’s visa remains cancelled' : Andrews

The Australian Immigration Minister, Kevin Andrews said that he would not reinstate Haneef Mohammed's visa, which had been cancelled by him on character grounds. Although Haneef had been granted bail by a magistrate, his visa was revoked by Andrews on July 16 and he was detained by the authorities.

The Australian Immigration Minister, Kevin Andrews is unlikely to reverse his decision to cancel the visa of Indian doctor Mohammed Haneef, charged with supporting a terrorist organisation. The visa of Haneef Mohammed was revoked the very same day he was granted bail by a magistrate.
