SINGAPORE: Malaysian police on Sunday released on bail 10 ethnic Indians who were detained on Thursday for “illegally” assembling outside the Prime Minister’s office in defiance of the ban on the Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf). This was seen as a gesture to the ethnic Indian minority on the eve of Deepavali, a festival officially recognised in Muslim-majority and multicultural Malaysia.

London: A housekeeper couple has been arrested on suspicion of theft from ‘Beckingham’ Palace, the British residence of football star David Beckham and former Spice Girls singer Victoria.
Victoria’s parents called in the police after recognising some of the items put up for sale on an internet site. They visited the house and found identical items missing.

New Delhi: Hailing the passage of the Indo-US nuclear deal by US Congress, India on Wednesday said the world at large has now recognised it as a nuclear power.
