Reports that the Indian doctor, Mohammed Haneef, was planning an attack on a building in the Gold Coast region of Australia, have been dismissed by the Australian Federal Police. The Australian government is keen on deporting Haneef to India at the earliest.

The involvement of Kafeel Ahmed in the UK bombings as well as reports of his proximity to terror outfits has resulted in the Karnataka police keeping a close watch on 'any activites' that could cause a law and order situation in the state. The Director General of Police, K R Srinivasan said that the police are monitoring the activities of suspect groups.
