Kolkata turns into fortress for Indo-Pak match

A phenomenal security ring has been clamped in and around Kolkata after an e-mail threatened to trigger a blast during the India-Pakistan Test match commencing at the Eden Gardens from November 30.
The Eden Gardens itself looks like a veritable fortress with more than 60 police officials combing the venue on Monday night and taking guard at all the gates.

Kirsten met the Coach Selection committee comprising of Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri and also BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah in New Delhi on Monday evening. Former Australian coach John Buchanan is also said to be in the reckoning, although Kirsten has emerged as the clear front-runner.
A decision is expected to be announced after the BCCI office-bearers meeting in Kolkata on the 1st of December.

The Australians avenged their loss in the last ODI by comprehensively beating the Indians by 9 wickets, to take a 3-1 lead in the series. The Aussies demolished the Indians with clinical precision by reducing them out for a paltry 148 in 39.4 overs and then achieving the target with 24.1 overs to spare.

The Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh showered praises on the Indian team for their performance in the recently concluded inaugural Twenty20 World Cup.
