In another showdown, between former Indian captain Sunikl Gavaskar and the BCCI, the former has failed to see eye-to-eye with the latter, over it's reservations on innovations in One-day cricket. The richest cricket body in the world had objected to two of the changes proposed by the committee headed by batting legend Sunil Gavaskar.

Sunil Gavaskar, who has been referred to as a destructive influence by none other than Bishen Singh Bedi, is by far the most powerful man outside the board in Indian cricket. Off late he has drawn a lot of flak for his alleged disinterest in the running of the game. Recently, he was in the news for skittling Dave Whatmore's candidature and proposing John Emburey's name instead.

After Graham Ford dealt a major blow to the BCCI by declining its offer to coach Indian cricket team, Sunil Gavaskar said they were ‘back to the square one’ on the matter. The former captain said it was not yet clear what arrangement the BCCI would make for the tour of England, beginning at the end of this month.
