The scrutiny of the nomination papers of the Presidential candidates began yesterday and only the papers of UPA candidate Pratibha Patil and NDA-backed independent candidate Bhairon Singh Shekhawat were found valid. All other nomination papers for the July 19, 2007 Presidential election were rejected.

The Presidential-Poll enters its last phase on Monday, when scrutiny of nominations for the July 19 Presidential elections will be taken up.In all 84 nominations were filed for the presidential polls with as many as thirty-three new nomination papers being received on the last day.
