Soli J Sorabjee, a renowned jurist, has justified the six years jail sentence given to film star Sanjay Dutt, dismissing suggestions that the judge was "misdirected" or "miscarried" in sentencing Sanjay to six years. Soli justified Judge Kode's sentence, claiming "he didn't have a toy gun, he didn't have a airgun, this is a serious offence...".

Sanjay Dutt had undergone a medical check-up in the Yerwada jail after he complained of "uneasiness". According to sources in the prison, Dutt's illness has been attributed to "change in environment" and there is nothing seriously wrong.

Bollywood superstar, Sanjay Dutt has been housed in an oval-shaped cell in the Yerwada jail in Pune. The cell has it's own attached toilet, however the other prisoners have to use a common toilet. A jail official claimed that Dutt will not be given preferential treatment due to his celebrity status.

Superstar Sanjay Dutt, who has been awarded a 6-year "rigorous imprisonment" sentence under the Arms act will have to face the harsh reality of prison. Dutt who will be treated like any other convict will soon have to choose between cooking, carpentry, farming or weaving and will have to work in prison as part of the rigorous imprisonment.

The senior jail officials at the Arthur Road jail - wherein Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt is currently being housed - held a meeting to discuss security for the superstar. According to sources, Dutt isn't receiving any special treatment at the jail and had to sleep on a concrete bed like all other prisoners and was provided the regular prison food.
