The Indian skipper Rahul Dravid dropped a bombshell by announcing his resignation as the captain of the Indian cricket team. The 33-year old ended his two-year reign as the skipper in order to focus on his batting. The BCCI has not yet specified as to whether it had accepted his resignation or not, however Dravid's request would be considered and the selection committee will appoint a new captain

The Indian skipper Rahul Dravid said that the former coach, Greg Chapell could not adapt to his role as well as his Kiwi predecessor John Wright. Dravid who shared a cordial relationship with Chappell, said that while both the coaches had a touch time coming to terms with certain aspects of the Indian dressing room, Wright was more accomodating while Chapell wanted to rule with an iron fist.

Following England's close victory in the fourth one-day match, the Indian skipper Rahul Dravid said his side fell short by 25 runs. Defending an inadequate total of 212, the Indian bowlers did an excelelnt job of reduce England to 114 for seven. However a record 99-run unbeaten stand for the eighth wicket, between Bopara and Broad helped England secure a 3-1 lead in the series.
