In two separate gunbattles in Reasi and Ramban districts of Jammu, two Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were killed by the security forces. Based on a tip-off, the troops of the 59 Rastriya Rifles and the police launched a joint search operation for the militants and managed to kill a top LeT commander.

The Commander-in-Chief of the army's Northern Command Lt Gen H S Panag said that not less than 53 launch pads have been set up on the international border in Jammu and Kashmir to facilitate the intrusion of militants into the Indian side. He also added that 'more than 800 terrorists are all set to cross the border and enter into the country'.

The police have arrestyed a self-styled area commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) in Udhampur district of Jammu. Abu Bakar, the militant in question was trying to flee from the place where he had called a meeting of militants, but was nabbed by the police. The police recovered One AK-47 rifle and four grenades from him.

On the basis of a new policy which is being implemented in Jammu and Kashmir on the surrender of militants, the immediate financial grants to surrendering militants will be abolished, also a tough verification procedure will be put in place before a militant could surrender.

Twelve Hindi-speaking people in Assam's Karbi Anglong district have been murdered in two separate attacks. This is a second attack in a week. On August 8, militants killed eight Hindi-speaking people in Kabri Anglong.

Around 20 suspected militants were killed and several wounded on Tuesday, in a blast at a training camp in a volatile Pakistani tribal area bordering Afghanistan, officials said.However there were conflicting accounts about the cause of the blast, residents said three missiles were fired from across the frontier while officials said the insurgents were killed by their own bombs.
