The BJP admitted to having made a ‘wrong assessment’ in forging an alliance with the JD-S and stated that it was prepared to face mid-term polls if the pact is not honoured."We don't consider it as a mistake. We have made a wrong assessment. That can be the correct description," said Venkaiah Naidu, the senior BJP leader in an interview.

'Majority Indians against mid-term elections' : Poll

According to an opinion poll conducted by the Outlook magazine, a majority of 63 per cent Indians are opposed to mid-term elections. While 61 per cent people in urban areas oppose mid-term polls, in rural areas 68 per cent are against it. Also, fifty-two per cent people are backing the Indo-US nuclear deal, while 21 per cent are against it and 27 per cent are unaware of the agreement.
