The authorities in Afghanistan have refuted reports claiming that an Indian has been kidnapepd by the Taliban and have maintained that all Indians working in a power project in north Afghanistan are safe. This was in response to earlier reports, claiming that an Indian engineer working at a power project in Puli Khumri in Baghlan province had been kidnapped.

The Taliban have reportedly claimed to have kidnapped an Indian engineer in Baghlan province of Afghanistan. The engineer was working for a power project at Puli Khumri, the capital of Baghlan.

An Indian national,who was kidnapped on June 17 by unidentified persons from Nigeria's Delta State, has been set free, as stated by his family members. "I am free and safe", Murugan, a native of Thiruvananthapuram, told his wife Krishnakumari over the phone.
