Australia to have tought screening laws

The Autralian Immigration minister, Kevin Andrews plans to toughen the screening process for migrants waiting for permanent residency in Australia, following the controversial case involving Indian Doctor Mohammad Hanneef. The migration officers will be given special training to enforce tougher conditions on migrants wanting to become permanent residents.

The Indian Sikhs planning to immigrate to Canada, can rest easy, as the Canadian government has done away with a decade-old policy which made it necessary for Sikhs with the last names Singh or Kaur to change their surname before they could immigrate. Canada's Immigration department has issued a statement to that effect on Wednesday.

The Israeli ambassador to India,David Danieli said that Bnei Menashe, the descendants of the Tribe of Manasseh — one of the 10 lost Israeli tribes living in Mizoram and Manipur are welcome to immigrate to his country provided they converted to Judaism. “They are welcome to return to their ancestral land but they have to be fully converted into Judaism,” he said.
