Mumbai city and its surrounding areas faced the onslaught of the monsoons with heavy rains lashing the city for almost 24 hours beginning Saturday evening. Warnings were issued to fishermen not to venture into the sea. The city of Mumbai witnessed widespread flooding with the water receding only late Sunday afternoon.

Heavy rains lashed the Capital on Saturday morning heralding a wet weekend for Delhiites who had been sweltering under hot and humid conditions a few days back. It rained for more than an hour in the morning on Saturday. The weatherman said the showers which started on Friday are likely to continue later on Saturday and Sunday.

Two people were electrocuted to death in Shraddhanand park area in North Kolkota after a bare electric wire fell on a water logged road. Meanwhile, three more persons died of lightning in Kishtopur Bazar and one person died of Kushtia Park.
