The BCCI added a new twist to the embarrassing -Graham Ford coaching- episode with the BCCI President, Sharad Pawar, disclosing that Ford was offered a 3-year contract. There were speculations that Ford has refused the coaching assignment as he was unhappy with the one-year contract offered to him by the BCCI.

The refusal of Graham Ford to coach "Team India" was such an embarrassing slap that the Board lost all reasoning and selected 73 year old former test player and manager, Chandu Borde as the manager for Ireland and England Tour.

Former Board of Control for Cricket in India president Raj Singh Dungarpur termed the Board's handling of the coach's selection as "unprofessional". "It was the BCCI's mistake to prematurely announce [Graham] Ford's name. It was very unprofessional," he said.

Graham Ford’s doosra has left the Indian cricket establishment stumped, and John Emburey has added salt to the wounds by declining the offer to coach India too. Red-faced officials will still be scurrying around for excuses and explanations, but harsh as it may sound, the simple truth is that the Board of Control for Cricket in India got what it deserved.
