Although the overall flood situation in Bihar has shown signs of improvement, 56 more deaths were reported from flood-hit areas on Wednesday, taking the total death toll to 408. According to the water resources department the new deaths were reported from Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Darbhanga and West Champaran districts.

Assam witnessed heavy rains resulting in floods and landslides which have killed 15 people and displaced over 1.1 million people, respectively. The army has been deployed to rescue villagers who have been marooned due to heavy water-logging.
