Breached along the embankments of rivers in Assam have resulted in flash floods which have displaced about 40,000 people. Nearly 120 villages in the eastern district of Dhemaji, about 500 km from Guwahati, have been submerged under water.

Flash floods have struck over 300 villages in Sitamarhi and Muzzafarpur districts in north Bihar killing atleast six and displacing more than 25,000 people.So what once was a national highway is now a waterway. And crossing the stretches could well be disastrous.
