The UPA Government which was pressing for the extradition of Bofors-accused Ottavio Quattrocchi, withdrew the appeal against him, which was prepared for an upcoming hearing in the Buenos Aires Supreme Court. Thus Quattrocchi has been allowed to fly back to Milan, a free man.

The CBI has filed an appeal in Argentina's Supreme Court, against the rejection of India's plea to extradite Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi to stand trial in the Bofors kickbacks scam. The Argentinian court in El Dorado had on June 9 turned down India's plea to extradite Quattrocchi, for want of evidence.

The UK police are unlikely to seek the extradition of Indian doctor, Haneef Mohammed who is currently under custody in Australia. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation has said that currently there is no request for the extradition of Haneef, who is charged in connection with last month's failed car bombings in the UK.

The Delhi High Court refused to stay the order allowing extradition of Maninder Pal Singh Kohli, accused in rape and murder of British teenager Hannah Foster, to the United Kingdom.
