A week ago Dav Whatmore's appointment as the Indian cricket team's coach was almost a certainty. But things took a dramatically different turn at the meeting in Bangalore on Monday, June 4, when the seven-member selection committee sat down to finalise the new coach. Shockingly, Whatmore was not given the job and the committee asked for a few more days to name the new coach.

The BCCI on Monday confirmed that it has received an application from South African Graham Ford for the Team India coach's post. "We have received an application from Graham Ford. Besides, Dav Whatmore expressed his wish during the tour of Bangladesh," said BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah.
