Beijing: China warned French President Nicolas Sarkozy to call off a planned meeting with the Dalai Lama, saying on Tuesday that it was up to Sarkozy to create the right conditions for putting China-EU relations back on track.
The French leader, who holds the rotating presidency of the European Union until the end of the year, has said he will meet the Dalai Lama in Poland on December 6.

WASHINGTON: The United States on Thursday called on China to review its policies that it said had raised tensions in Tibet, ahead of talks in Beijing between the Dalai Lama's envoys and Chinese officials.

Dharamsala: The Dalai Lama will undergo surgery in India to remove gallstones, a senior aide said on Friday, following his brief admission to a hospital in August with abdominal discomfort.
"He (the Dalai Lama) is going to undergo the removal of gall stones, which I believe is a simple routine procedure," Chhime R. Chhoekyapa, a senior aide to the Dalai Lama said.
"Otherwise his health is fine.
