28-year-old Binu had gone to Oman only two-months ago to work as a labourer. When Cyclone Gonu struck the shores of Muscat he was trapped for days inside his apartment with 14 others. Binu's happy father now says he had lost all hope but had never stopped praying.

Oman: Cyclone death toll rises to 25

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) provided the latest update of the death roll in the cyclone Thursday evening, the report said. According to ROP, 25 people of different nationalities were found dead at various places in the country while 26 were still missing.

One more Indian was on Friday confirmed dead in the devastating cyclone that hit Oman, raising the toll of Indians to two, while eight remained missing. The body of Pokkan Sreenu, hailing from East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, had been identified, Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed said. Sreenu had been missing after the cyclone hit Oman's coastal areas on Wednesday.

After pummelling normally hot and dry Oman and Iran's southeastern coast, Gonu weakened to a tropical storm and was expected to dissipate into a rainstorm by Thursday as it moved over the sea toward Iran. At least 28 people were dead, most of them in Oman, and 26 were missing.

Two Indians have been killed in the Oman cyclone Gonu, media reports said. According to the reports the bodies of two Indians — Shibu from Kerala and Prakashan from Karnataka — have been recovered from the Wadi Alda area in Oman. Both the victims were employees of an Indian company in Oman.
