New Delhi: Public sector oil companies have for the first time in more than a year made a break even on diesel sales after they started making profit on sales of petrol and diesel, strengthening the case for a fuel price cut soon.
But the oil companies do not want to reduce prices now as they continue to lose Rs 82 crore per day on PDS kerosene and domestic LPG.

State run oil major Bharat Petroleum Corporation on Thursday said its net loss for the second quarter ended September 30 stood at Rs 2,625.27 crore.
The firm had a net profit of Rs 1,038.16 crore in the September quarter of last fiscal, BPCL said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The total income rose 49.32 per cent to Rs 38,148.73 crore for the quarter under review, from Rs 25,548.
