The former Pakistani Premier Benazir Bhutto said that she wished to see a treaty between India and Pakistan in the 60th year of their Independence that "promises" peace for the coming generations."In the 60th year of Pakistan's and India's independence, we would like to see India and Pakistan to come to a treaty that can promise peace to coming generations," she said at a press conference.

The Dawn newspaper in Pakistan reportedly said that the Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf may quit as Army Chief in return for support from political parties to re-elect him for another term.
