The authorities in Afghanistan have refuted reports claiming that an Indian has been kidnapepd by the Taliban and have maintained that all Indians working in a power project in north Afghanistan are safe. Zahir Shah, the former king of Afghanistan, has died at the age of 92 following a long illness. Shah was deposed in 1973 and went into exile, but returned to Afghanistan after the fall of the Taliban in 2002.
